Release notes

Local Hoist v0.1.3

June 21, 2026

Introduces Computer Use for desktop-control sub-agents, with guided macOS permission setup, restart-and-resume handling, fast idea capture, customizable AI voice playback, clearer approvals and hook messages, smoother working directories, improved media viewing, and production reliability polish.

New

  • Added Computer Use, a new sub-agent mode that can see your screen and control your desktop to help with hands-on tasks. It is off by default and protected by explicit opt-in, sandbox, and approval controls so you stay in charge.
  • Added guided Computer Use permission setup for macOS, including readiness checks, Screen Recording and Accessibility guidance, System Settings shortcuts, troubleshooting copy, and restart-and-resume support when permissions require reopening the app.
  • Added backlog quick-drop so you can capture ideas, screenshots, and notes in a couple of seconds without breaking your flow.
  • Added editable AI voice playback settings so you can tune how symbols, text, buffering, and playback behavior are spoken aloud.

Improved

  • Computer Use now runs through the standard sub-agent flow with clearer launch previews, normal pause and abandon handling, better cost attribution, and screenshot context passed directly back to the model.
  • Computer Use approvals now preserve the originating conversation, resume cleanly after app restarts, and guard against repeated approval clicks starting duplicate desktop-control sessions.
  • Smoothed the new-conversation working directory flow with autocomplete, recent directories, and friendlier home-directory display in the side menu.
  • Redesigned hook execution messages so automatic hook runs explain what triggered them and report stderr more clearly.
  • Improved generated-image viewing with a lightbox download action, better tooltip/toast layering, and less surprising keyboard navigation around image references.
  • Cleaned up first-launch and tool configuration screens, including a less cluttered launch experience and clearer Computer Use availability controls.
  • Polished backlog quick-drop status and recording behavior with clearer saved-state contrast, unboxed progress text, visible recording/transcribing status while adding screenshots, and waveform resizing when the panel changes size.

Fixed

  • Fixed Anthropic API key validation so valid keys are accepted reliably.
  • Fixed the cost panel keyboard shortcut so it correctly collapses and expands the docked panel.
  • Fixed duplicate keystrokes and key-combination release order issues in Computer Use.
  • Fixed Computer Use restart-resume and approval race conditions that could leave the permission modal waiting or start the same launch more than once.
  • Fixed several message-stream and sub-agent validation edge cases that could leave tool calls/results out of order.

Reliability

  • Hardened Computer Use safety checks at both the model registry and execution layers so unavailable desktop-control tools are not advertised or launched by stale settings.
  • Improved production packaging and signing for Computer Use native input components so desktop-control support loads correctly in hardened macOS builds.
  • Improved macOS permission restart behavior so Local Hoist can preserve pending Computer Use state when System Settings quits and reopens the app.
  • Improved the styled macOS installer window behavior for a smoother install experience.
